The minimum qualification to legally charter a yacht bareboat worldwide
The Day Skipper Course teaches you the skills needed to safely skipper a yacht in waters by day. Whilst it is a reasonably intense course, there is still time to stop at a different port each night and enjoy the Pontine islands. The course lasts for 6 days, including at least a one-night passage of 3+ hours.
As we are in the Mediterranean, you will get plenty of practice in techniques like ‘Med mooring’ (stern-to mooring) so you will be able to moor safely and competently and look professional when you bring your own boat into the quay.
At the end of the RYA Day Skipper course, you will be confident to skipper a cruising yacht on short passages by day. Students who successfully complete the Day Skipper course are awarded the RYA Day Skipper practical course certificate.
The sailing area is the Archipelago of Pontine islands, Ischia and Capri, around 15 miles offshore from our base which is in the island of Procida.
